Welcome back. It’s Stephen Hunt, the Managing Director of Hunt Hospitality International. So we’ve so far we’ve covered off a lot of topics. But today is truly my favorite. It’s about your people. Without a great team around you, you will not be successful. So it’s really, really important to nail and have the best team that you possibly can. I always work off the moral compass. So I like to have a team of people around me whether all forms of stakeholders, whether it’s your suppliers, your contractors, and most importantly, your close team.
It’s so important to have the right people around you, and people who share the same philosophies as you do. It’s really easy to employ rock stars. But really, you want people around you who are there for the tough times? And how do you get to know that about people try to forge long relationships.
Quite often, I’ll have a meal with a prospective employee, just to gauge many, many things that I talked to them about over that meal. And it is quite relaxed, but you can see their attitude towards the people who are serving them their meal, you can see how they present themselves. And you really want to knock down about their history and why they want to be working with you. And over a period of time, I’ve been very fortunate enough to have people who’ve worked in other industries and other sectors, who I’ve been able to bring across to hospitality. And it was only because I’ve known these guys for a long period of time, and that we have the same beliefs.
And as I said before, it’s really really important for the tough times. Anyone can be a rock star and on your team and perform really well when things are going well. But it’s more important when the times are tough.
Thanks guys, please contact me on the email address a given and I look forward to seeing you next time.
