Hi, Stephen Hunt from Hunt Hospitality International. Today, I’m going to talk to you about a topic that is very close to my heart. It’s Innovation!
We love innovation in our company, we’re always looking at trying to improve our business via innovation. We get all our team involved in trying to improve our processes and a lot of our innovation comes through digitalization.
I had my Director of Operations and Marketing come on board and she soon established that there are a lot of gaps between my many years of experience in the hospitality industry, and what was actually being passed on down to the staff for daily procedures.
Effectively, she came up with an idea for an industry companion, which digitized all the processes. From the cleaners in the morning: checking the cleaners off, making sure there’s not dirty areas in bathrooms or chewing gum under the tables – the list is endless! And then we moved on to how to pull a perfect beer. Who doesn’t like a draught beer? I love it! That way staff get to actually learn about the process and the beer reticulation system. What we’re doing (building this digitized process) was helping us to educate all of our staff.
Part of the problem we had with a lot of our new team members (COVID brought this on as well) was a lack of skill set. These skill sets were basically brought on by the digitization process, and then we effectively educated all the staff. We found a truly effective way for us to have all of our staff performing at their best without me having to go through all of our venues and all of our team or having to work through all the processes again.
