Welcome back. It’s Stephen Hunt, Managing Director of Hunt, Hospitality International.
Today, I’m going to give you 5 Tips on preparing for the Holiday Season!
Tip 1: Marketing and Promotions.
By now you should be ready for a change of season. You should have your marketing and promotion plans ready. Say for us in Australia going into the summer season, we’re getting ready for cocktails and all things summer! For those in the Northern Hemisphere, you’ll be getting ready for all things winter! So for instance, red wine on your menus, all sorts of chocolaty dishes, eggnog, and all those weird, wonderful, beautiful things that you have in the wintertime. So make sure your marketing and promotions are ready for winter!
Tip 2: The second thing is Maintenance Checks.
It doesn’t matter what season you’re going into, it’s really important to make sure that all of your equipment is up to speed! So we get all of our machines serviced, and ready to roll for a busy period. So please make sure that you’ve gone through all your equipment: air conditioning compressors and everything else that you have, and it’s ready to roll.
Tip 3: Review your opening hours!
Now, in summer for Australia, people are out at the beach so they come into our restaurants a bit later. So, we stay open a bit later! And I’m sure in winter in the Northern Hemisphere, you’re probably doing the reverse, you’re probably closing down a bit early. But please review your opening hours.
Tip 4:
Schedule a break. This is a great opportunity for you to spend some time with your family. But you obviously coming into a busy period of trade. You need to slow things down and schedule a break for yourself.
Tip 5:
The fifth and final, probably one of the most important ones, is getting your staff ready! They need to have a break for themselves as well. But they need to be prepared and they need to know all the promotions and marketing. So train your staff up ready for the for the holiday season!
All the best guys look forward to chatting to you again soon. Cheers.
